Our Dying Light 2 Review…. Should You Buy It?

Dying Light 2 Full Review

Finally, it’s here. You draw your curtains and switch off the lights. It’s perfect. Everything is okay – and you click on Dying Light 2. Released just this week – the sequel to the much awaited Dying Light is here and it truly is breath-taking.

You’re started off with the same track of Harran that played during the first game and given a backstory into how DL2 came into existence. Of course, the GRE is involved again, and a failed experiment caused the rapid spread of the virus throughout the world causing only one city to survive, Villedor. You start as Aiden, a Pilgrim (a wanderer, a survivor and a badass zombie killer). 10 minutes into the game and you meet Spike from the original game and he brings up Crane real quick. The nostalgia hits hard! It is a bit depressing, ngl. The game looks beyond amazing and the music compliments it so well. Overall, this game has very positive reviews and great praise from critics and gamers both. Let’s dive into this review and talk about the pros and cons of this game, and if you should buy it.

Before we talk about the best parts, let’s talk about the cons first. The game was played on medium settings on a rig that had an RTX 2060 GPU, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and an i7-6700K processor. For some reason, the Ray Tracing would cause a drastic drop in FPS so we just decided to play it on medium to avoid any of that.

Performance (Bugs, Glitches, FPS and more)

A game this new is expected to have some performance issues, glitches, bugs and whatnot. Dying Light 2 unfortunately is no stranger to that and has some massive issues with performance mainly, with a few minor bugs and glitches that can be overlooked. The FPS drops drastically and the game is unable to hold a constant rate. Frequent drops like these can be extremely annoying and can affect the overall gameplay. There are also enormous loading times, blacked out screens, laggy combat and audio issues where the characters are talking (as is evident from the subtitles) but there is literally no sound. There are also issues that are somewhat game breaking – you cannot progress through certain parts in the story because of unknown reasons and are just stuck in a loop for hours.

There was a body duplication glitch, and also a glitch where the corpses just disappeared. The funniest glitch we came across was when you vault over an opponent to kick the other – the person we vaulted over started floating in the air. It was hilarious. Techland said that they are working on a new patch that should reportedly fix these problems and hopefully optimize the game further. All of these were encountered on PC, just to be clear. Some of these issues are addressed under the TIPS section of this article and we show you how to get around these (for now) while the patches are being rolled out; you can thank us later. 😉

Combat & Parkour

In the very beginning, you have almost no stamina left and keep falling down. Nights are extremely tough and parkour seems SO SLOW. Of course as you level up it is truly fun and amazing, but in the beginning it is a bit… frustrating. Not just that, but Aiden’s jump feels super weird. As if he’s jumping on marshmallows… it doesn’t seem natural at all and is at times difficult to gauge if he would make certain jumps or not. From a first-person perspective, the grappling part deeper into the game makes you feel like Spider-Man and is pure, limitless fun. The combat is much more difficult, because it feels a bit more realistic with the increased health of the opponents (especially human). It can get a little repetitive, and sometimes boring. Some enhancements and nerfs need to be made in upcoming patches.

Story

The story comes across as lacklustre and a tad bit boring/expected. The GRE’s involved again? Seriously? Everything adds up to an almost anticlimactic build-up that ends up being not so satisfactory. Maybe the DLC will spice things up. The characters are mostly predictable and are not so well written.

That’s all we had for the cons. Here’s some tips in order for you to not rage at the game and finish it with ease!

Tips

If you’re having trouble finishing a quest, especially when you’re at the location but nothing happens (as seen in one of the earlier quests titled “Talk to the people of the Bazaar” where you endlessly search for something to happen and nothing happens – just roam around for a bit after you reach the Bazaar or complete a side quest. You should get a call and then boom, you are able to progress.

Multiplayer Co-op problems? Don’t worry. Apparently, you’re not allowed to have more than 300 friends on Steam at the moment for this game, so just remove some friends if you’re above 300 and it should work like a charm. Hopefully this gets addressed soon.

Pressing the “Q” key for survivor sense and it doesn’t work? Just walk around a few metres, press the escape key and try again. It should work. This is one of the most annoying bugs. But since it’s an important one, it will be fixed nonetheless.

Finally, random floating bodies? Audio cracking/no audio at all? Parkour and combat seem sluggish? Just restart the game and all will be good.

This is what we have so far! Time to talk about the GREAT stuff.

The atmosphere

It is beautiful. The graphics are outstanding and the game looks amazing, no doubt about it. The voice acting is a bit okay although the traversing makes it so much more bearable. The music is also so damn good. It really feels depressing at times and during certain missions we felt actually sad. A great combo.

Playtime

This game promises so much playtime that you won’t be bored of it and it has enough replayability to reach about 500 hours. No joke, that’s what Techland said. We ourselves are around 40 hours deep and haven’t made any significant progress in the game (also because we’re completionists haha). It is fun, entertaining and keeps you hooked. Get ready to spend 3-4 hours per session at the very least.

The Nostalgia

Most players playing this are and will play it for the nostalgia. Although it is not very connected to the first one, it still reminds you of the times you played as Crane. The rooftop jumping, side missions and survivor saving – it does make you nostalgic and give you some happiness.

I think that’s about it for now, yes, there are many things wrong with this game but should you buy it?

Yes. Techland gave support to a game that came out in 2015 and continued it until DL2 came out.

Should you buy it now? Meh, maybe wait for a bit until the bugs are fixed.

Is it fun regardless of everything? YES!!!!

Anyway, make sure you check it out on our website for a GREAT RATE! Go kill some zombies. And don’t forget! Good night and good luck 😉

Dying Light 2 Finally Gets An Update!

Dying Light 2 Releases Late 2021

Yes, you beautiful bastards, Techland finally has good news for us. Things are looking real bright for Dying Light 2 and I’m sure most fans are elated to hear it – just as we here at GamersOutlet.net are.

Techland released a video a couple of days ago titled MARCH 2021 UPDATE, and in it they talk about (well, mainly just read tweets and comments of anxious fans) the game not being released and address rumors of it being “delayed indefinitely” and “cancelled.”

As the video comes to an end, we are met with some real good news – Dying Light is coming out this year, mostly late 2021. We don’t know the exact date since it wasn’t revealed, but we are given a small glimpse of the game again (new gameplay) and the final release date (although not an exact one.)

Amidst rumors of the autocratic upper level management and very very hectic and toxic workplace leading to many devs and important people working on the game walking away, the studio stands strong and admits that they announced the game too early.

Dying Light 2 Coming 2021

Perhaps they were being way too optimistic. But that happens sometimes! Anyway – the good news is that the game is being released and it’s gonna be great. Can’t wait for it honestly!

How excited are you? Let us know in the comments below!!!

As for now, have an amazing weekend and stay safe! And don’t forget to check our website out for the craziest discounts ever! <3

A WIP of Dead Island 2 Gameplay LEAKED?!

Dead Island 2 Leaked Gameplay 2020

Yes, you heard that right. If you’re a fan of the Dead Island Franchise and love playing games like Dying Light, you’re in for a treat.

As luck would have it, the devs at Techland/Deep Silver scrapped working on it and there were a lot of issues with the development itself.

Techland cut ties with Deep Silver to work on Dying Light and the game is still in development as of now.

But now a video of the unfinished game has surfaced (supposedly LEAKED) online and you can have a glimpse at it!

Initially being announced at E3 2014, however, its abundantly clear that even 6 years later the game still seems to be a long way off completion.

You cannot actually play this demo/alpha build but you can pray that it gets released one day.

Or it might just turn out to be like Half Life 3. Well, at least we still have hope since this is still in development and has SOMETHING to look forward to.

Until next time!

Delays, Delays and MORE DELAYS! :(

Dying Light 2 Delayed

Being a big game developing studio and having the hopes of millions of people attached to it has it’s pros and cons – Tons of support, hundreds of thousands of concurrent players, cool communities and more… But it also puts a lot of pressure on these studios, which is why they take more time to release certain games, to keep up with the hype.

The same has happened with 2 brilliant and very famous studios, and both the games they were working on, have been delayed.

CYBERPUNK 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed – Official Announcement

CDPR (CD Projekt Red) recently announced that they’re going to work more on the game and release Cyberpunk 2077 5 months later, on the 17th of September of this year.

Most sources/rumors suggest that it is due to performance issues on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms, and they will be taking their time to refine it. The delay hurts, because a lot of people pre-ordered it, but as they say, good things take time and are worth the wait. 5 months isn’t a lot, and hopefully the game is well optimized for all platforms.

DYING LIGHT 2

Next up is fan favorite, community supported Dying Light 2, developed by Techland. This is sadder because it has been delayed indefinitely, and has no release date as of now. Makes sense, but also hurts a lot!

And the fans are truly disappointed, but still support their decision. Which is an overall positive reaction, I’d say.

Dying Light 2 – News Update

Dying Light 2 Gameplay Image

Well, it’s been some time since there was an actual update about the game – but time to rejoice, and for good reason too, since we have a HUGE update from Techland!

Originally when Dying Light (the original) came out, it was 2015 and they are STILL providing content and support for the game, 4 years later, in 2019.

Recently, they came up with the Godfather update, and boy oh boy, it looks delicious!

Needless to say, our first big update on Dying Light 2 is that it will receive the SAME content additions and support just like its predecessor, and for almost half a decade AT THE MINIMUM.

Which is truly amazing, and gives us a real good reason to buy the game and play it – because not only can we continue playing it for a longer time, but we will also be in touch with it, without getting bored.

Not to mention the community’s side, where they make their own maps, mini games and challenges – which are equally fun to complete and test your skill too!

Dying Light 2 is an investment, because, brace yourselves, here comes update #2 – It will have OVER 100 hours of gameplay just in its STORY MODE!

Since this game is dependant on choices, every choice you make is kind of a new mini game in itself, and you continue playing it until you run out of those choices. Then, you play it AGAIN, choosing differently, with new permutations and combinations, only to realize that EVERY game is different and is impacted by your choices differently to give you a non-repeating and exciting experience.

Dying Light 2 – NEW GAMEPLAY RELEASED! What you need to know

Dying Light 2 Preorder Game CD Key Cheap

Earlier this week, an entire 26 minute gameplay of Dying Light 2 was released with developer commentary, to explain a variety of things that take place in the video.

Techland has done an AMAZING job with this game, and with its predecessor Dying Light, which had a HUGE ass DLC too – The Following. It also is a highly underrated piece of art.

Although, they have changed things with DL2, and how! More freedom, upgraded weapons, acrobatics, story, graphics, customizations and CHOICES! Which is exactly what they try to show us in all their trailers and gameplay demos.

Dying Light 2 – Choices

Well, here’s what they showed us in the latest gameplay, in short!

You’re playing as Aiden Caldwell, and although he freakishly sounds like Kyle Crane (voiced by Roger Craig Smith), he’s actually voiced by a different actor, who is Jonah Scott. Yeah, there’s zombies, and parkour – but it also has a new big issue – the humans themselves. Ruthless society, infected world, and scarce commodities.

Dying Light 2 Grapple Moves

There’s double the parkour moves you can do now – and interaction with the environment is WAY more intense, awesome and intricate – and seems very very natural and real.

Oh and yes, you can do this –

Dying Light 2 Zombie Battle
Dying Light 2 Zombie Kills

Use zombies to break your fall. Isn’t that like the BEST thing ever?

The way you use the UV light has changed, and it’s more creative – can be used in multiple different ways. This here below is one such occasion.

Dying Light 2 Infected Zombies

Oh, and you cannot stay in infected areas for a long time – since you are infected as well, and you have an infection meter/bar too. So make sure you stay clear of those areas, although they have the highest quality of loot, so – it’s up to you.

Anything you missed, can be found here in the lovely 4k footage released by Techland!
